The Ramona Community Prayer Breakfast on May 2 was a remarkable event... the music was golden; the prayers were heartfelt and inspired; Carol LeBeau was charming, witty, gracious and uplifting; the food was fantastic; the transformation of our sanctuary into a upscale dining room was striking; and the work of all 41 volunteers was remarkable. Attendance met our expectations, and the entire event exceeded our goals.
There was a general consensus among both our guests and volunteers that we must do this again in 2012. One volunteer remarked, “We can’t not do this again next year.”
Although the Men's Fellowship launched the planning for this year's breakfast, it eventually became a whole-church project. Many people deserve robust plaudits for their prayers and service. It was a big job, executed in outstanding fashion.
On Sunday, July 31 at 6:00 P.M. 15 volunteers gathered to brainstorm ideas for next year. Highlights of the meeting:
- The next prayer breakfast will be on the National Day of Prayer: Thursday, May 5.
- We'll target Ramona's Business community, so we'll keep the time at 6:30-8:00 AM.
- We will investigate alternative venues besides SOJ.
- We'll de-emphasize Spirit of Joy and emphasize non-demonational.
“May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
—Romans 15:5-6
