Serving Guidelines

The Open Door leadership team is a dedicated group of believers from many different Ramona churches who have worked hard to keep this important ministry going. Over the years they have seen many notable differences it has made in the lives of many beneficiaries of this ministry.

Spirit of Joy has assisted in the Open Door Ministry since 2007.

Pray for Our Ministry to Open Doors

This is a chance to serve Jesus.  He said, “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in.” (Matthew 25:35)

Right now, before you begin a very busy time, take a moment to pray and ask the Holy Spirit to fill you with God’s love for our guests.

Pray that no one… no guest, no server, no adult or child will leave this place tonight without being touched by the love of God.

Sanitary Requirements
  • Before handling any food, beverage, or serving utensils Clean your hands with the hand sanitizer and put on sanitary disposable gloves. If you touch anything unsanitary (surfaces, hair, face, used plates or cups or utensils, etc) dispose of gloves and replace with clean gloves. Use hand sanitizer as necessary.
  • Serve guests directly at their tables.  Guests are asked to remain seated during the meal. Hand food directly to a guest… avoid passing plates and cups from hand to hand.
  • Do not serve seconds onto a used plate (and if you're in the kitchen, don't handle used plates). Ask the server to throw the used plate into the trash and then serve the food onto a clean plate.
Rules for Guests

The Open Door Leadership Team will enforce the following rules (See Madelyn Holmquist).  However, servers should politely remind guests of these rules as needed.

  • Guests must remain seated and not wander around or help themselves to beverages or food. They should raise their hands if they desire more food or beverage. Servers should observe and serve these requests as soon as possible after everyone else has been served at least once.
  • No food should leave the premises unless all guests have been well served and there are ample extras available.
  • Unaccompanied minors must have written parental permission. If you have any concerns about this please check with one of the Open Door Leadership Team.

This is your chance to be Jesus with skin on.
Greet each person you meet tonight with a smile and speak words of life, love and mercy.

“So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.”
