Christmas Music Celebration
2013 Easter Festival Choir
On Sunday morning, December 14, both worship services feature music, narration, scripture, and slides interwoven to present a “Festival of Praise Noels.”  Music will include traditional Christmas carols as well as contemporary hymns; Festival Choir selections as well as plenty of congregational singing.  Invite your friends, neighbors, and other community members to join us at 8:15 or 9:45 AM to celebrate the Advent and Christmas seasons.
Then on Sunday evening at 6:00 PM you’ll want to return to Spirit of Joy to enjoy a very special Christmas concert presented by the choirs of Mission Vista High School in Oceanside, under the direction of Bryce Harrison, our Director of Contemporary Music.
Come! Please don't miss these opportunities to experience, enjoy, and enhance your celebration of this blessed Christmas season.
Christmas Gathering Photos
Our annual Christmas Gathering Sunday night was once again a festive celebration. The Christmas lights were lovely and the decorated Christmas tree was beautiful, thanks to Russ Popma and his dedicated team of helpers.

Third Sunday in Advent - Shepherds' Candle
Light three candles as the family says together: Jesus said, "I am the Light of the world, he who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of Life."
A child asks: Why do we light three candles?
A parent responds: The first candle reminds us of the light of hope of the prophets. The second candle is a symbol of the light and warmth Joseph and Mary found in the stable. The third candle reminds us of the great light and joy which surrounded the shepherds at the announcement of Jesus' birth.
Read the story of the shepherds' search for the newborn Jesus:  Luke 2: 8-20.
Sing or listen to The First Noel
The first Noel, the angels did say,
     Was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay;
In fields where they lay keeping their sheep
On a cold winter's night that was so deep.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel, Born is the King of Israel.
Sing or listen to While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks
While shepherds watched their flocks by night
      All seated on the ground,
The angel of the Lord came down,
And glory shone around, and glory shone around.
Pray: Dear God, we thank you for your gift of Jesus to the whole world. As the shepherds found Jesus in a manger, may we find Jesus in the love and joy that we share together. Help us, 0 God, to love one another. Help us to do our share to bring happiness, goodness and peace to the world. Amen..
