Let the LORD Build the House
On February 8 we begin a new phase in working toward our long-time dream for our ministry in Ramona. But what is that dream, exactly? Why do we want to go to the expense and effort to build a new church home on the northeast corner of Highway 67 and Highland Valley Road?
Spirit of Joy’s mission is to share Jesus with all whom we meet. One of the unique ways in which we do that at Spirit of Joy is to greet and welcome and befriend each visitor as we would to our own homes. One of the most precious times in the week is on Sunday morning when we greet one another. Most of us are here because of Spirit of Joy’s good-natured and easy friendliness. Yet it's difficult to actually grow in numbers because of the limits of our storefront home. Therefore, it is exciting to think about a new home that has enough parking, class and meeting rooms, and activity space to actually minister to growing numbers of people who are naturally drawn into our welcoming circles.
Also, consider the strategic location of our new building at this Ramona Gateway intersection. As people look at our corner with its Welcome to Ramona sign, we have a unique opportunity to be a welcoming beacon of God's light to all who pass by. This begins with our beautiful building and attractive landscaping. But we must also begin dreaming and planning now for the expanded ministries we'll need in order

to share God’s message of acceptance, forgiveness, peace and beauty through Jesus Christ to all who will enter our doors.
It goes without saying that this vision and opportunity are way too big for us to accomplish on our own. In fact, we must understand God’s warning from Psalm 127:1: Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. This is why the first and foremost task facing us is to pray:
  • Ask God to reveal His plan for you, your family, and for this church in the months and years to come.
  • Ask God how you should contribute your time, talent and tithe to this mission: not only in the building campaign but also in your own growth as a believer and as a member of the Body at Spirit of Joy.
  • Ask God to guide and help Pastor Dan and each of the campaign leaders and committee leaders and members as we work together to accomplish this work.
  • Ask God to provide the resources, to open doors that need opening, and to close those doors that must be closed.
  • Ask God to give each of us a cheerful, confident, and unified spirit that we may work diligently as he directs us.
  • Above all, pray that His will be done in this and that we each enthrone Jesus Christ as Lord in our lives. Amen.
