2014 Christmas Cantata Choir

2014 Christmas Cantata Choir

Can it be that time of year already?  Yes, it can!

Festival Choir rehearsals for Palm Sunday and Holy Week begin Saturday, Feb 14 and continue through Saturday, April 4th.  Practices run from 9 – 11:00 AM.  I know all saints of God lead busy lives, so I strive to begin and end on time.

This year’s Palm Sunday cantata is titled “The Easter Story” and is comprised of songs that are singable even for “out of practice” voices.  Please consider participating in Festival Choir for this short, but very significant period of time. I invite you to ask non member friends to sing with you too!  You will receive a rehearsal CD to use in addition to Saturday times with the whole group.

Festival Choir will present a cantata at both services on Palm Sunday, March 29; will sing for our Good Friday service, April 3, and for the 8:15 AM service Easter Sunday, April 5.  We have 20 beautiful, new choir robes for you to wear as you sing praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation!

A four-handed thank you

Karen Zajac and I would like to thank all who supported our Piano Four Hands concert January 25th.  We were blessed by overwhelming support from our church families, family, friends, and people we didn’t even know!  Donations, all of which are designated for Spirit of Joy’s building fund, have totaled over $1800 and are still coming in!

We are indeed blessed to be blessings!

Jewell Klem
On behalf of Spirit of Joy, we are saddened to let you know of Jewell Klem's passing on February 8th.  Jewell's favorite ministry was our Prayers & Squares group, which she helped found in 2003. Donations in her honor may be made to Spirit of Joy, Jewell Klem Memorial or Spirit of Joy, Prayers & Squares. You can mail your contributions to the church at 1735 Main St., Ramona CA 92065, or you can contribute via PayPal using your credit card or PayPal Account
Glorious Unfolding
Last Sunday our Capital Stewardship Campaign was introduced. But that brief introduction could only scratch the surface of what we will share together over the next three months. As our theme title implies, the Glorious Unfolding will become plain as we learn, talk and dream about Spirit of Joy's new ministry at Ramona's Gateway corner. It's so much bigger than a new building. We hope you're as excited as we are to pray and define and plan our ministry in our new church home. In the meantime, below are the major upcoming events as well as a list of campaign committee chairs. Stay tuned for more!
Capital Stewardship Events

These upcoming events are briefly listed for your information.

This brief list does not describe the larger picture of ministry and purpose behind our Glorious Unfolding campaign, which is is so much more than simply building a new church home. Stay tuned for more information.

March 9-20:

Home Fellowship Meetings
Everyone will receive a personal invitation to attend a neighborhood gathering to share our hopes, dreams and visions for our "Glorious Unfolding." This refers to more than just our new church home: we also need to begin dreaming and planning for the new Spirit of Joy ministry that will unfold in our new home. The evening will include a video that captures the spirit of our church family. Look for your invitation near the end of February.

March 21:

Prayer Vigil
Prayer is the lifting of heart and mind and will to God. On March 21 we will have a full day of concerted prayer in which we hope everyone will participate. Our prayers will focus on thanksgiving, praise, adoration, and listening for guidance. The power of prayer is great, through which all things are possible. Stay tuned.

April 19:

Church-wide Fellowship Event 5-7pm
This will be the most important and memorable event of our "Glorious Unfolding" Capital Campaign. Featuring a Baked Potato Bar and children's party. We'll learn how we can respond with our own pledges to support our building program.

April 20-30:

Program Wrap Up
During this time we'll contact those who have further questions about your own support pledge, to pray and discuss and help you reach a decision.

May 3:

Victory Celebration
At this special single-service Sunday Worship we'll lift our hands and hearts and voices in praise and thanksgiving.
