Prayer Vigil
This Friday evening our prayer vigil begins at 6:00 and ends 24 hours later.
We still have some open slots to fill, so please sign up at Soup Supper tonight or contact Mick and Amy Hall at .
Things to pray for during our prayer vigil, whether at home or at church:
  • Ask God to reveal His plan for you, your family, and for this church in the months and years to come.
  • Ask God how you should contribute your time, talent and tithe to this mission: not only in the building campaign but also in your own growth as a believer and as a member of the Body at Spirit of Joy.
  • Ask God to guide and help Pastor Dan and each of the campaign leaders and committee leaders and members as we work together to accomplish this work.
  • Ask God to provide the resources, to open doors that need opening, and to close those doors that must be closed.
  • Ask God to give each of us a cheerful, confident, and unified spirit that we may work diligently as he directs us.
  • Above all, pray that His will be done in this and that we each enthrone Jesus Christ as Lord in our lives.

Social Media and Crowd Funding
We've added a new event to our Campaign Events listed below. Beginning on April 6 through May 2 we'll conduct a crowdfunding campaign during which we'll invite neighbors, family, friends, neighbor churches, and others throughout Ramona and beyond to contribute to our building campaign. (We're ready to accept these contributions at
Over the next couple of weeks we'll provide lots of online information and support on what we'll need to do.
The first step is to visit to our Facebook page at and click on the LIKE button near the bottom of the top picture. While you're there, please read through the existing "Our Story" articles. We've reprinted the latest one below.

The Earth is the Lord's

"The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it." (Psalm 24:1)

We believe Psalm 24:1 is a true statement. Although Spirit of Joy has "owned" the property at Ramona's Gateway for over 20 years, we know it is not truly "ours." God has entrusted it into our care, and we must be good and wise stewards of that trust for the benefit of future generations. Given its location, we also feel an additional responsibility to care for and improve the property in a way that will bless our Ramona neighbors and all who drive past.
Our architectural plans and permits which were approved by the County Board of Supervisors in November, 2014, specify that extensive landscaping must be completed before the project can pass final inspection. This includes irrigation and over 200 six foot tall trees as well as other shrubs and plants that must be planted around the property. The plan calls for a walking path around the perimeter of the property, and the County Master Plan calls for the development of a horse trail.
The landscaping plan and the striking architecture will help to make this highly visible property behind the Welcome to Ramona sign an attractive addition to our lovely Ramona Gateway. Click on the picture above to see a larger view of our planned development. (Please note that the aerial image was taken in the early 1990's.)
Upcoming Campaign Events

Vision Awareness meetings have been well-attended and have generated much interest in and, we dare say, excitment about our Glorious Unfolding Capital Campaign. Participants have shared a variety of wonderful visions for our ministry at our new church home:

  • Music room

But it's not quite over: we still have two more Vision Awareness Home Meetings: on Thursday, 6-7 at the Bergstrom's and Friday, 7-8 at the Gilmores.

April 6 - May 2

Social Media Crowdfunding Campaign
More detail coming in the next two weeks.

April 15:

Advance Commitment Meeting
Meeting for those who are prepared to make an early commitment which may include a cash contribution. For more information, please contact Tom Aldern at

April 19:

Church-wide Fellowship Event 5-7pm
This will be the most important and memorable event of our "Glorious Unfolding" Capital Campaign. You and your family are invited to the Family Fellowship Event Dinner on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. We will have a baked potato bar with lots of toppings, Mac'nCheese for the children, salad and dessert provided by the Spirits of Grace. There is no charge for this event so bring your entire family and be our guest. In keeping with the spirit of the evening, wear your "building" clothes – overalls, paint hat, hard hat, etc. and join in a fun evening.

Come early to catch a Hay Ride which will begin at 4 p.m. for the children and anyone wanting to join them. Dinner begins at 5 p.m. with great food, inspiration, information and fellowship. We will learn how we can support our building program and offer our own pledges. We look forward to seeing you there!

April 20-30:

Program Wrap Up
During this time we'll contact those who have further questions about your own support pledge. We'll discuss and pray with you and help you reach a decision.

May 3:

Victory Celebration
In all these things we are more than conquerors (to be completely and overwhelmingly victorious) through him who loved us. (Romans 8:37 NIV)
This single-service Sunday worship will celebrate our Victory in Christ, in all circumstances. (To see what we mean, take time to read verses 38-39. For that matter, read the entire Chapter 8 of Romans. You'll be glad you did.)

We will also bring our First Fruits offerings as we mark the beginning of our three-year pledge period.

Thank you, Harvey Payne, for this beautiful photograph
