Congratulations & Praise the Lord

Today, Alyssa wings her way north to prepare for her Big Day: On Saturday Wes Howland and our beloved Alyssa will join in Holy Matrimony. This is indeed a great thing to celebrate.

Be we have more news that will have all of us bursting with praise and thanksgiving to our Glorious Father in Heaven.  You'll recall that in January we asked you to pray that Wes would find a suitable job in San Diego. Yesterday, Wes signed a contract with a firm in La Jolla. When they return from their honeymoon they will begin the process of finding a home somewhere in San Diego County. Hallelujah!

Levels of Giving

…A poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents. Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others.  They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.” (Mark 12:42-44)

Why did this poor widow put her last two coins into the temple treasury?  Was she foolish? Or was she wise, believing that God would continue to meet her needs?

At our Fellowship Event on April 19 (beginning at 5; hayrides at 4), we’ll ask this question:  “How much will you pledge to contribute to our capital building fund over the next three years?”

To answer this, you’ll probably ask yourself one of these questions:  “How much can I afford to give?”  Or “How much does God want me to give?”

One way may seem safe because it evaluates

the known. The other seems risky because it relies on things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:11). One answer may bless our church building program.  But the other will surely bless both you and the church building program.

Of course this doesn’t mean that you should give more than you can truly afford. Rather, as we pray together in the Precious Name of Jesus, let us seek and find His guidance for this and for all matters in each of our lives.

You may use the Levels of Giving guides below to help you think about these issues as you seek guidance.

Useful Links
Have you explored the "Useful Links" that are published in every issue of this eNewsletter? If not, you may be surprised by the information that is available there. Each of these links takes you to an informative section of our SOJChurch Web site.
For instance, The Glorious Unfolding link takes you to our Capital Campaign pages, and the Contribute to our Building fund will take you to our online payment link to PayPal. Or, if you need to contact someone, take a look at the Task Force Contacts. (I've included the task force contact list below as an example).
The point, of course, is that all of this information is available to you each week: If you have a question the list of Useful Links below is a good place to start looking for the answer.
