The Fall season is upon us!  We have had a great summer of activity, ministry, and worship together.  Our Fall Rally Day Kick-Off is set for Sunday, September 13th.  We will have two worship hours, 8:15am and 9:45am with Sunday school preschool-6th grade at first worship, and preschool through high school at second service.  We will welcome all of the children, youth, and families back to Spirit of Joys fall season with a breakfast provided by the Men's Fellowship that morning.  Then, beginning at 4pm we will enjoy hot dogs and hamburgers provided by the youth, and the Pinewood Derby annual races begin at 5pm.  To date we are almost sold out of cars....35-40 this year!

Throughout the month of September we will be starting up various ministries.  The Men's Bible study and Women's Bible Study will be back on the schedule.  Monday Morning and evening study on the Book of Luke at 7am and 7pm will begin on September 21st!  Home groups will begin the week of September 28th with the theme for 8 weeks being that of "Community".  We have at least four groups beginning this fall and would like to add some additional Home Groups.  If you are interested in opening up your home, and have others that you have in mind to invite, please let us know so that we can add you to the schedule of Home Groups presently set to meet this fall.  We will have cards available on Sunday mornings for you to let us know of your desire to get involved in this vital ministry.  It is truly a great way to get to know others in our church family, to share in meal and fellowship on a weekly basis.

We would like to keep you updated on the schedule for the building.  As we have shared, we are presently now in a contract with the civil engineer, soils engineer, landscape architect, and our architect Greg Danskin, to complete all the necessary plans for moving forward to submit for a grading permit.  The projection for submittal is set for the end of September.  At this time we are planning to have Mission Builders on site for framing by June 1st.  It is so very important that we continue our prayers each step of the way.  Take a moment during the week, walk the land, and pray for God's blessings on that Holy Ground.

We also want to encourage everyone that it is important to stay the course with our commitment to the building fund, and our commitment to general ministry.  It is difficult for us to expect to move into a new building without strong support of our daily ministry and needs at Spirit of Joy.  Make these final months of 2015 great ones.  Plan to give over and above so that we begin a new year well on our way to growing the ministry here.  See you Sunday, and please, invite a friend, Pastor Dan

See you Sunday... and please... invite a friend,

Home Groups Resume

Our home groups resume the week of September 27. As we did last fall, each group will be using the same DVD and discussion guide, and we're excited about the topic this fall: Community

Community is a word we often hear, but what does it really mean? And why is it so important to your spiritual life?

Because you can’t grow spiritually unless you’re connected relationally. God designed us that way. He wants to use other people to grow us and he wants to use us to grow other people.

In this 8-session, video-based study, specifically designed for launching new small groups well, you’ll explore how building deep relationships with the people in your small group and serving in the larger community around you will grow your faith. You’ll learn why your unique story matters… to God and to the people you do life with.

This series will help our small groups grow together and for Spirit of Joy to connect new people in their congregation. The Conversation Guide is designed to help facilitate group discussion and further study alongside the Community DVD we'll watch together. Click here for more information, including a video.
