Message Moments

We have enjoyed the journey together each week with soup suppers and devotionals centered around Luther's words as we celebrate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation.  We are grateful for the incredible attendance and faithfulness of God's people in our walk to the Cross.  Thank you to so many for the variety of soups we have tasted over the past Lenten weeks together.

As we begin April, we do so with Holy Week and Palm Sunday services on April 9th.  At both worship hours our expanded Festival Choir will bring the message of this Holy Season in music.  You will receive a palm cross as a reminder of Jesus' processional with palms and His journey to the cross.

On Thursday, we will have our traditional candlelight Seder meal, a reenactment of the Passover Meal with communion. The service begins at 6;00pm, with potluck dinner following the service.

On Good Friday, we will have the service of The Seven Last Words, with a darkening of the sanctuary, and special music and message for the evening.  The service begins at 7:00pm.

On Saturday, our children, their families, and the Ramona community are invited to an Easter Egg Hunt on the church property at Highland Valley and Hwy 67.   The festivities begin at 9:00am.

Sunday, Easter Day, will have three services at Spirit of Joy.  We begin at 6:30am on the church building site with our Easter Sunrise Service.  At 8:15am and 10am we will have our Easter Celebration Services, with Festival Choir, Praise Team, instruments, Holy Communion, and Easter Message. We invite you to give lilies in honor, memory, or in celebration of a special occasion.  We also invite you to bring flowers from your garden for the Easter Cross in the sanctuary.

Upcoming events in the life of the church include first communion for our young people, and confirmation for those who have been through the studies.

We continue to ask for all to pray for our work on the land, as we continue to complete site work and ready ourselves for the construction of the new church and fellowship area.  May this be a time for us where we see God working in providing the people and the resources to continue His plan and vision for us at Spirit of Joy.

May God bless you in our Lenten journey and the joy we have in the empty cross and glorious resurrection. Pastor Dan

Is Your Name on The List?

This first-of-the-month newsletter, as usual, has the monthly Sunday Helpers chart below. Is your name on the list?

Greeters are selected from our Church Directory on a rotating basis. So periodically, every family will be asked to serve as Sunday greeters (include children toddlers through teens), It's easy: welcome each arrival with a friendly greeting and hand them a bulletin.

Lectionary readers are selected in rotation from a volunteer list.

Usher teams are selected in rotation from an usher team list.

You never know when your name will pop up. So please check out the volunteer list at the bottom of every first-of-the-month newsletter.

By the way... we need more volunteers to be a Reader and also we need more contributions for flowers (check out the gaps below). Please sign up for both of these on the kiosk next Sunday or beyond.

Is The Christian Story True?

...All of us have beliefs about the world we think are accurate. All of us have a worldview picture... in our minds.... Every religion tells a story of reality. Every philosophy and every individual outlook on life is a take on the way someone thinks the world actually is.

There is no escaping it. These stories are meant to bring order to our beliefs, to explain the “pieces” of reality we encounter in life, whether big things or little things, important or inconsequential.

All worldviews are not equal, though. Some have pieces that seem to fit together internally better than others, and some have pieces that seem to fit reality externally better than others. If they are good stories— that is, if they explain many things, especially the most important things, in a way consistent with our normal encounters with the world— then we have more confidence the stories are accurate, which is just another way of saying the worldview is true.

Gregory Koukl, introducing his thesis that Christianity, alone among all worldviews, is demonstrably true; in The Story of Reality: How the World Began, How It Ends, and Everything Important that Happens in Between (p. 24). Zondervan. Kindle Edition.

Available on Amazon for $9.99 (Highly recommended by Al Rogers... thoughtful, powerful, easy read.)

What If?

What if you treated your Bible like your cell phone?

...if you carried it where ever you go? ...if forgotten, you returned to retrieve it? ...if you flipped through it during the day and received important messages? ..if you gave it to your kids as gifts? ...if you used it in emergencies? ...if you couldn't live without it?

Remember... you can always rely on your Bible... it can never be disconnected... Jesus has already paid the bill.
